Space Frontier features multiple types of weaponry available at the player's disposal to defeat aliens and other players with. The generation of these weapons is similar to the Borderlands series - each weapon you come across is random and has randomised stats - however, they will always scale to your current player level*.
|DPS||DPS stands for "damage per second", and is a measure of the theoretical maximum amount of damage a weapon is capable of doing every second.|
|Accuracy||Accuracy determines how precise a weapon when fired and grants shotguns lower spread. Having a higher accuracy will help you to hit targets that are further away or smaller.|
|Impact||Impact stands for how much damage the weapon does per shot.|
|Rate||Rate is a measure of the weapon's firerate. Higher rate stats indicate more shots fired within a given time.|
|Handling||Handling is the term used to describe how long a weapon takes to reload its magazine. Lower handling results in slower reload speeds.|
|Magazine||Self-explanatory. Magazine is a single number representing the number of rounds that can be fired before the weapon must be reloaded.|
There are currently six weapon-types, each with varying fighting styles and stats;
- Assault Rifle
- Battle Rifle
- Pump Shotgun
- Auto Shotgun
- Sniper Rifle
- Point Cannon
The assault rifle is a weapon that is most often the least-damaging of all weapon types, but its true strength lies in its unparalleled rate of fire. However, paired with its lack of precision and recoil, it is only suitable for mid to close-range combat.
Battle rifles are slightly similar to assault rifles, but exchange fire rate for increased accuracy and/or increased impact. On the down side, they usually render lower magazine sizes and sometimes low handling. They prove themselves most suitable for mid-range engagements.
The pump shotgun specialises in close-quarter-combat because of its low accuracy and high spread. They hit hard up-front, but prove themselves to be near-useless at range.
Auto shotguns work the same way as pump shotguns, except for their automatic fire. Due to this they are sometimes even less accurate but boast larger magazine capacities.
The sniper rifle's main focus is its incredible accuracy and high impact. In contrast, it most often has a low magazine capacity, low handling and a slower rate of fire compared to most guns. It has the longest range of all gun types.
Point cannons deal huge amounts of splash damage but are generally inferior in most other categories. Another factor to consider as that they are only able to carry one shot in a magazine at a time. This causes the user to be potentially vulnerable in-between shots. They require a short amount of time to charge up the shot, before releasing a devastating beam of energy capable of hitting more than one target and vaporising foes in a single blast.
*Depending on what randomised stats you get, the gun descriptions may not be true in your case. For example, you may find yourself lucky and loot a pump shotgun with a higher accuracy rating compared to what it theoretically should be.
